IMPORTANT: There are two new types of bus routes!!! If you need to go to the airport from Jaco Beach please make sure you tell the ticket seller. Due to the new highway there are two new routes, one is the old route and now a “direct” route which takes the new highway directly to San Jose via Ciudad Colon therefore it does not make the Alajuela stop for the airport. If you are a responsible person, you will still have time to catch a bus from the Coca Cola station to the airport but if you are planning it close, you best make sure you have the correct route. Do not ask locals because there is still confusion about what is a “direct”, “express”, and “normal” route. On top of this, during busy days, they add “Extras” which is just another bus leaving usually 30 minutes after the standard scheduled bus.
If you are confused and can speak decent Spanish, call the bus station at the numbers below. Once again, if you are going to use the bus to get to the airport, please double check your bus route with the ticket seller.
