Surf Video CNS Copa Balance Open Nosara,Costa Rica Feb 22

Once again more opinions coming out about the final results of the Copa Natural Balance Open in Playa Guinones or Nosara, Costa Rica. The 18 year old surfer from Jaco, Jair Perez, won his first contest in the Open category in Nosara, Costa Rica. For those in attendance at the Playa Guiones contest of the Circuito Nacional de Surf  sponsored by DayStar Properties it was the most memorable contest performance in memory. In this contest, not only did Jair win his first open category but  he beat the 5th and 6th rankded surfers in the world. Costa Rica is the preferred surf destination Feb 04

ict-officials-wine-dine-circuit-costa-rica

On and on and in ever increasing numbers to justify their existance ICT or the Costa Rica Tourism Institute, released more statistics today that says “Costa Rica is increasingly a surfing destination for international travellers seeking a surf vacation. ” Does anyone find this odd? Where have the “officials” at ICT been living? I know where, at the lavish tourism shows being wined and dined by somebody and in turn wining and dining someone else. In the perpetual international wine and dine circuit where nothing gets done but the appearance of being busy and on a tight schedule.

Lucky for most of the ethical people and “international travellers” we did not have to rely on ICT to tell us about Costa Rica’s surfing opportunities. Nor did Billabong who has sponsored their first ISA World Surfing Games scheduled to take place in Playa Hermos, Costa Rica this summer.  Imagine what Costa Rica would have turned into if not for the wine and dine circuit participants of ICT figuring out that Costa Rica is a surfing mecca. Maybe they want to get their hands on some of the cash that will be flowing for a period of ten days during the World Surfing Games or maybe they needed another reason to join a different wine and dine circuit. more…

Nosara, Costa Rica Surf National Contest Feb 02

Lisbeth Vindas 6 time CNS Champion

If you are a lover of surfing or visit Costa Rica to learn how to surf, you will not want to miss out on the next leg of the National Surf Circuit which will take place in Nosara which is located on the Nicoya penisula in Guanacaste.

But do not worry if you are in Jaco, a high speed boat shuttle operates out of the Los Suenos Marina which will get you there in one hour and back for dinner in Jaco.  The cost is around $30 each way and is not a bad deal when you consider the amount of time you will save and the ocean journey you embark on. Who knows you might get lucky and see a school of Dolphins which hang out offshore the central pacific coast of Costa Rica.

This next leg in the competition is third to last for the national surfers competing for the top seed in Costa Rica. After Nosara, the following two remaining legs will be in Santa Teresa and then the finals here in Playa Hermosa just outside Jaco and also the future location of the 2009 Billabong World Surfing Games.

Check back to see the latest roster standings for this coming weekend.
